This past weekend was one of the best weekends I have ever had in a national park...This trip was even better because ROAM Beyond made this activity special. Their property is so beautiful, the cabins are so cute, and the staff were so nice.

Biking the road before it was open to vehicles in the spring was a unique and unforgettable experience that I would happily do again. It made me feel like I was visiting the park for the first time as I had a whole new perspective to admire the sheer magnitude of the beauty around me.

Riders of all fitness levels tackle Going-to-the-Sun Road every year. There is no requirement for making it to the top and lots of participants choose to do the ride on an electric bike, which makes the ride accessible to most people who feel comfortable going for a leisurely ride. For those that are looking to test their capacity, the "classic route" is approximately 32 miles roundtrip (from Avalanche to Logan Pass) and includes over 6,600 feet (this is the summit of Logan pass, elevation gain is up to 3,345') in elevation gain. Many people take things slow, stop frequently to snap photos, and then cruise back down when it's time to get picked up, regardless of how far they've made it.
Children over 12 and/or 5 feet tall are generally a good fit for an electric bike. For standard bikes, we ask parents do plenty of research to ensure the distances and elevation gains are suitable for your child's abilities.
The route typically goes from Avalanche Creek (depending on conditions) to Logan Pass. Check out the map below to see more details.
Riding distances vary based on plowing progress and weather. You can find the most up-to-date hiker/biker closure information here: https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/directions.htm
